The Department of Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center was founded in 1955 and has a rich history of dedication to clinical care, education and research. UMMC is the state's only academic health science center and includes six health science schools.
As the largest department on campus, the DOM includes 13 divisions: cardiovascular diseases, clinical immunology, digestive diseases, endocrinology, general internal medicine, geriatrics, hematology and oncology, hospital medicine, infectious diseases, medical genetics and genomics, nephrology, rheumatology, palliative and supportive care, and pulmonary and critical care.
The department includes over 300 staff and treats adult patients in various locations across the city, including UMMC main campus, the Jackson Medical Mall, Belhaven University Physicians, UMMC Specialty Select and UMMC Grants Ferry.

Welcome to the Department of Medicine (DOM) at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The DOM is dedicated to providing highest-quality expert patient care, training of the next generation of internists and subspecialist physicians, and research effort to discover and develop more effective medical therapies and cures for tomorrow. Integral to University of Mississippi Medical Center, the only academic medical center in the state of Mississippi, the DOM represents the largest academic department and includes 13 divisions and 150 faculty across multiple locations.
